ESMA has become the United Arab Emirates "IECEE" Member Body Print E-mail

Due to the globalization of trade and the huge demand by government authorities for the safety of consumers and the Quality of the Products; and since the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA) being the UAE National Standards Body and the legally authorized agency at the Federal Level, ESMA took a very important step and applied for the membership of the IECEE CB Scheme, as the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Member Body.

"With Great honor, we would like to announce the acceptance of ESMA as the UAE representative to the IECEE Member Body;" Said His Excellence Waleed Bin Falah Al Mansouri the Director General of ESMA. "Of this great accomplishment, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will be one of the very few countries within the region and the 48th Country to be a member of the 47 countries represented by Member Bodies and NCBs participating in the CB Scheme worldwide, such as the United States of America (USA), Germany and others." Said his Excellence the Director General.

"With reference to your formal application and plan for membership of the IECEE and after consultation with the IEC General Secretary and CEO, Mr. Aharon Amit, I am pleased to inform you that the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA) is eligible to become the United Arab Emirates IECEE Member Body." Said Mr. Pierre de Ruvo, IECEE Executive Secretary in the Letter sent to ESMA Dated September 20th, 2007.

Mr. Pierre de Ruvo, IECEE Executive Secretary also added "We would like to express our appreciation for the interest shown by the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA) to join IEC System for Conformity Testing and Certification of Electrotechnical Equipment and Components (IECEE) and we look forward to a fruitful collaboration."

The Acceptance of the IECEE Membership will provide a flexible way of granting the United Arab Emirates Mark of Conformity - Quality - to products imported and exported. Manufacturers within the region, finally, will be able to obtain the CB Certificate needed to get the International Recognition needed to excel and grow beyond the borders.  This CB Certificate will be the Manufacturers passport to export to the 48 country members of the IECEE.

His Excellence the Director General Mr. Waleed Bin Falah AL Mansouri concluded by saying "This is a very important and crucial phase and a step toward an international recognition and prosperous future, not only to the United Arab Emirates, but also to the Gulf Region and the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA)."
