Under the patronage and attendance of UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology signed a memorandum of understanding in Seoul for technical co-operation with The Korean Agency of Specifications and Technology.
Director General of Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology H.E. Waleed Bin Falah Al-Mansouri said that the signature of this memorandum under the patronage and attendance of UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum reflects the solicitude and the support of the wise leadership in the UAE to the commercial and industrial sectors and the standardization and metrology. It also shows the leadership's concern about developing businesses related to standardization and metrology in order to guarantee the quality of products and services. The continuous support of UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the Minister of Finance and Industry, Authority Chairman of the Board, to the authority has advanced it to a high level of distinction in performance both locally, regionally and internationally as it helped authority to keep up with the international developments in the fields of metrology as well as co-operation with global entities in this field including the signing of several memorandums of understanding with advanced countries and organizations in the field of standardization and metrology. H.E. added that the memorandum aimed at facilitating mutual co-operation and providing mechanisms through which the two parties can work together to achieve the common interests of the two parties in the standardization field and in the conformity evaluation and training as well as commercial exchange by working on the development of an agreement for bilateral recognition of the results of evaluation applied on products in the two countries. H.E. explained that the memorandum included co-operation in the standardization field and conformity certificates as well as testing, and experimentation and technical data and the exchange of experts and co-operation in the field of training. According to the memorandum, the two parties will exchange information and documents and technical and practical researches in the standardization and metrology including the rules and procedures taken to prepare and form standards and related work programs. The two parties also co-operate in granting conformity certificates and co-ordinate and organize training to their staffs in the standardization field and evaluation of conformity and in any other related fields of shared interest. It also handled the exchange of information related to annual training programs that are organized by any of the two parties and the co-ordination when meeting with other organizations and international forums working in the standardization field or other related activities in order to reinforce the stands of the two parties in these organizations and forums. Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology was established in 2001 in accordance with the Federal Law number 28 in 2001. The Authority works in the field of creating standards and developing and managing the national system of standardization as well as granting certificates of conformity to products. It also works in developing and managing the national system of standardization and the national recognition system of labs and entities that grant the certificates of conformity. |
